George Clooney's wartime drama The Monuments Men is in cinemas next month, and a new featurette has been released in which the stars talk about the film.

Directed by and starring Clooney, The Monuments Men is based on the book The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History by Robert M Edsel and Bret Witter and also stars Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban and Hugh Bonneville.

It tells the story of an Allied team trying to save buildings and artworks from destruction at the end of the Second World War.

George Clooney and Matt Damon are saving the world -- the art world, that is -- in a new trailer for "The Monuments Men."

The film, which Clooney also directs, is about a crew of art historians and museum curators dispatched to recover renowned works of art stolen by Nazis before Hitler destroys them.

"If you destroy an entire generation of people's culture, it is as if they never existed. That's what Hitler wants, and it's the one thing we can't allow," George Stout (Clooney) proclaims in the film, which is based on the book "The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History" by Robert M. Edsel. Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin and John Goodman round out the film's star-studded cast.

"The Monuments Men" is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Feb. 7 2014.
